if i was guessing i would think it would be for a racing class with cubic inch rules or maybe weight/ci rules .it would be around a 340-341 with a 4.125 bore. maybe sprint cars or something ?

3.185 stroke LS crank Daytona Prototype LS engines are limited to basically stock 5.7 L bores and 5.0L total displacement. That makes a 3.185 stroke just about right. At their 7100 rpm rules limit, that is a fairly lazy mean piston speed of 3770 ft/min.
I suggest that these cars are definitely a fun drive! They race for 24 hours at Daytona later in January.
When Cadillac first went racing with the CTS they used a 5.7L version of the LS7 engine. The 3.185 stroke would also have worked here with a 4.165/4.175 bore. The eventually had to revert to the LS6 engine. In either case above, a used 3.185 crank might have MANY rpm cycles on it. Caveat emptor.

Your stock crank can rev to more that 7100 safely. As for the rods, some companies like callies manley, oliver so others might stock what you need, but im guessing if you use a stroke that short you will have to order a custom length rod and custom piston.
You stock crank will be fine for that but you will need forged pistons and rods. Since its out why not just build a 5.7 or 6.0 for it?

People have been past 7500 with hyd lifters. In the high RPM's you really have to worry about the oil system running the pan dry. Thats where and accusump comes in. Just keep in mind since this is in a truck you loose some low end grunt.
