Vengeance, TEA, FAST, 348 max effort build!
I just got my LS1 back from Eagle Machine in Buffalo, MO. The service was excellent, and the engine came back looking awesome, so I am very pleased to say the least. Also, I want to thank TEA and Vengeance Racing for their time and their awesome product!
Engine is going into a 99 Trans Am M6. Here is a brief overview:
99 LS1 Block bored to 3.908
Diamond -8cc flat top pistons
Diamond Rings
Callies Compstar 6.125" connecting rods
Stock Crank, Race prepped and polished, 10/10.
ASP underdrive pulley
ARP head and main studs.
Melling High Volume oil pump.
Mezierre EWP* w/ 160 Degree thermostat
Katech Belt tensinoer*
New TEA stage II LS6 cylinder heads (Brand new 243 castings)
milled to 59cc. Alot done to these heads. Very cool pieces.
(flowed 322/258 @ .600 lift on a 3.905 bore)
coated .650 lift double springs and Ti retainers
Yella Terra Ultralight Roller Rockers 1.7 ratio
comp hardened pushrods 7.4"
GMPP LS7 lifters
Vengeance "Vindicator" camshaft 240/244 .608/.596 112+4
FAST 90mm intake fully ported by TEA
BlueMaxx 90mm TB from Vengeance RD.
Nasty Performance Black Anodized Fuel Rails* and fittings
Earls "black" AN tubing and Fittings
42# injectors
Custom Valve Covers
AMW catch can and LS6 valley cover conversion
!MAF SD tune
All of this exhaling through a set of QTP HVMC Race long tubes (the earlier, quality kind) and a custom 3 into 4" Merge/4" QTP Cutout, reduced into a Borla Adj catback.
Spinning a Spec 3 clutch into a 10 bolt for now. (going to Midwest Chassis in the spring for a Custom 9 inch and suspension package).
Motor is being installed into my Trans Am this weekend, and just for fun, what do you guys think the motor will produce?
Hoping it will be at the exhaust shop next week, and Finished tuned by the end of the month.
HUGE Thanks to Wes Choate for all of his help and putting up with my annoying phone calls! Great guy!
Built car to be an Agressive daily driver and weekend track warrior. And hoping with the 6 speed, will behave on long drives around the country.
Will post pics soon! What do you guys think? Any Ideas?
thanks for looking! More in depth write up coming up!

*these parts will be on before the car is on the road.

With a good tune I would say easily 450rwhp or more... Those heads are putting out some stout flow #'s & should work great with that cam & you have all the other supporting bolt-on's as well... Should be a strong set-up, good luck with it man!

Thanks guys! I put alot of research and time choosing these parts, and I am really excited about the build. I am having my friend Wes do the Speed Density tune on the car, and since I am out of town at the moment working, he has my car to take his time and work out the tune. He is an awesome guy too, and has a dope Solid Roller 408 in the works. Should be a monster.
1999ssls1 Any track times yet? What gear are you running?

sure, why not? I mean, why would you need a solid roller cam if you were going to be staying @ around .600 lift and under 7000 rpms (within the confines of a fast manifold) And why would you run a dome piston on a car that will be driven primarily on the street?

I mean, one could go MUCH more agressive with more cubes, a single plane or fabricated manifold and an aggressive solid roller cam, but we are also talking about a stock displacement(ish) ls1 too.
I guess max effort is open to interpretation... btw KCformula, your build sounds interesting, mind PMing me with some details?!! Judging by what it says in your sig, it sounds like its going to be a monster!

I didn't mean to come off as a dick I just thought your title was a little misleading.
My solid roller only makes power to 6200rpm due to the ported FAST but it still makes north of 550rwhp even with a stock h20 pump and no vaccuum pump to seat the rings (Thanks a lot charlie williams )
Brad, if you want more info I'd be glad to answer any questions you have.

Well, I guess it would make sense that you would have that much power, considering you have 70 more cubic inches, but our set ups would be kind of like comparing apples and oranges. But I was definitely looking into a solid roller, believe me, but it just didnt make sense with the kind of goals I had.
I wonder what one could do with a solid roller valvetrain, "stock" cubes, and a fabricated intake manifold. You could have a destroked LS7, like Katech's LS7 with a custom crank and using a large bore, but still ending up with the desired 347 cubes. That would be a dope set up! Could you imagine the RPM's and the ability to take advantage of a bigger bore, on say, some worked over LS7 heads!!!
Has anyone done this?
Does anyone have a link to a solid roller, single plane 346 build? Would be awesome to see!!!

The guys at Vengeance have got a truely Badass, powerful cam for the stock-cube guys!
I am really looking forward to seeing how the car behaves as well. Wes is really patient, and detail oriented, and I have a feeling its going to be a fun ride!
