What bore, stroke, and how far down is the top ring from the piston crown? What head gasket do you plan on running?

The stock bore on the 5.3 is 3.780" so I don't think your going to get to 3.902".

Stock LS1 bore is 3.898". I'm not familiar with the 5.3, so maybe you can get 3.902".

Just because people do it doesn't mean much. Has anyone done this and had the bores sonic checked for adequate thickness?

I come up with 11.197:1, not accounting for the space between the top ring and the piston crown so it might be a smidgeon lower.

Chamber 57cc
OEM compressed gasket .056
Gasket bore 3.902
Deck clearance .007 above deck
Stroke 3.622
Bore 3.902
Piston 3cc dish
Rod 6.125

Assumptions:
1. stock 5.7L head gasket
2. piston .007 above the deck

Compression Ratio Calculator - Performance Trends,Inc.

11.2:1 is no problem on pump gas assuming the tune is right. I'm currently running 11.31:1 and have no issues whatsoever.

Wouldn't hurt, but won't help either unless you optimize your tune for it. If you have issues with knock or timing retard, than it would help. Otherwise, your wasting your money.
