Few pic's of motor (one that blew at shootout)
Wasn't as bad as it could have been. Only the #1 rod let go. Very little collateral damage. Can't say for sure if the ARP rod bolts failed, but the stock rod end was nowhere to be found. I am guessing this is what exited the block.

Ouch Todd,
So what number motor is this now? Still got enough money to build another one? I can only imagine how much this will cost. Hope you next one is stronger.

Motor of the month club Dan New iron block coming with Eagle rods and Wiseco pistons. Yeah, that is my block. It got nuked. Already took the block and crank to the scrap yard and got nearly $11 for them!

I was near the top of third gear and spraying a 200-shot. I'd guess about 5500-6200 rpm when it let loose.
Pulling the engine from the top is no sweat really. Just take everything off the front and remove the intake. Better if you also remove the tranny. I have done it by myself 5-6 times.

How long did it take you to pull the motor? I have never pulled one before. Kinda of wondering if it is worth paying the $700-$1000 fee to have it pulled and reinstalled?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Timing chain was fine, as was the cam and lifters.
Id say on a stock motor, with little experience, it'll take you 8+ hours to pull the motor. For me, with my stripper car, about 5 hours to pull the motor and tranny and have much of it disassembled. I've had lots of practice

Next time look for all the schrapnal and maybe you'll get $12. Next one make it bullet proof. You know, everytime you do something like this, I change my project. Not rich like you, dude. Take care

Todd....
So, you are real good at removing these LS1 engines. Are ya
Well, you can help me remove mine.
I am going to replace it with an old UH-1 "Huey" helicopter engine.
How does 1,400 shaft HP sound to you?
And the nice thing about it is that it runs on Kerosene!
We don't need no stinkin race gas!
That "foul mouth, chain smokin", Ron Larson :p
