in a word...yes
dont get me wrong though, its a want it dont need it situation. but you do want it.
any (reputable) synthetic will do you fine, but royal purple is worth it. it just works better from what ive heard in reviews. and im a user of it personally, ive never had a problem, so thats enough for me

its very good oil. just dont go with mobil 1 and think it's fully synthetic. Get a good filter like the k&n gold too

German Castrol 0w-30 from autozone rates high as does Penzoil Platinum. If you run GC make sure you see the MADE IN GERMANY on the back of the bottle. There is a MADE IN USA version but it's not the same thing. I run PP and just buy a big jug from Wally world for $20 + pour in another half qt. Did it last night!

Agreed, & the best advice in this thread. No to the RP. Visit Bobistheoilguy to learn just about anything you need to know & more, about oil.

oil is like cigs ever1 has there fav brand
i myself like royal purple with the k&n gold filter
i have ran it on my truck for 40k now and my oil looks good evertime i change
put 5w-30 or lighter but dont go thick like some people who say ive ran blah blah blah
in ever car ive owned for 30 years
i worked in a lube place for a brief period while going to tech school and nothin was greater than fussin with a guy for 30minutes about why u dont put 50 weight in a brand new caddilac truck

Actually, choosing oil is about reading "oil change analysis" reports posted by others whom have used a particular oil in the same engine, w/ a similar set-up up to the person researching the oil. In the LSX engine German Castrol & Pennzoil Platinum have produced very good wear & related numbers where as the "not as originally formulated" RP numbers have not been ideal. As noted, all can visit "BITOG" web site to learn about oil reports, analysis,...etc..
