11.2 CR, no tuning - a problem?
Someone on the Tunning forum here indicated that his new LS6 engine was ruined by knock; he was running stock LS1 tunning. Apparently, the higher CR LS6 engines (10.5CR)cannot run as much spark advance as a stock LS1 (10.1 CR). His advice to me is to get a tune immediately.
My car runs great!
Has any one else had a similar experience?
My timing is 4000-5000 28 degrees, 5000-6000 29 degrees 6000-7000 30 degrees with zero knock on 94 octance. (I am 10.8:1 comp) with 160 stat.
Cheers,
Chris
I am at 27 durring the summer on 91 (a little knock up around 5500RPM)...
Durring the winter/with 93 I can go up to 28 or 29 degrees (perhaps more if both 93 and its cool out)....

What heads do you have - that would help clear it up for these other guys commenting.

Oh OK, thanks:
Heads = 2002 LS6 Lingenfelter ported, milled .055 (the ASA heads)
Cam = 220/220, 564/564, 112 LSA
My freind A-Tapped the car recently; I'll ask him if any knock was detected; as I mentioned before, my car seems to run great....I only have about 250 miles on it since the swap....
it did throw a code but it was a passenger side rear 02 sensor that i need to check...this is not a sing of knock, right?

That information on your heads will make a difference in the feedback you get - I think a lot of the above thought they were LS1 heads.
Did you see what the Z06 owner above said - that is some low timing compared to the LS1.
If you have access to A-Tap, I would get KR logged and check it out!
Personally, I am going with the stock LS6 timing table right from the start and leave it that way. Like he said above, I've heard there is no advantage to advancing timing anywhere on an LS6.
