Every piston hit by valves...
Every piston hit by valves... what would cause this? It's kinda old news, since it was in my previous engine of which my car is in the shop for getting a new one... but I'm just curious as to what would cause every piston and valve to hit?

hmmm.... no springs were broken...
however, and i don't know if this all happened at the same time, but, i had a failed lifter 3 bent pushrods, and spun a bearing...
just wonder what went first, and if there's any connection between all them that might would cause the valves to hit the pistons...

Ryne at CMS seems to think my buddy revved the **** out of my engine the night all this took place...
When he was driving, he was DEFINATELY "on it".... as far as "overrev"? To be honest I don't really know what qualifies as "overrev"
all i know is A LOT of things got f'ed up that night... hell, he even somehow shot a bearing out of my water pump...

My guess is springs were weak being 118k miles on them, and he hit some high rpms and got valve float. The pistons were just helping the valve springs close the valves.
I had the same thing happen. I had weak springs on my motor, and ended up having one broken, and when I pulled the springs, I snapped a rocker arm bolt on #7, so I pulled the head. Well, all of the pistons had been kissed by the intake valves. None of the stock pushrods bent, and now that the new springs are in, I don't have any issues. I just look at it as I flycut the pistons like 0.005" using the valves.

My guess is if the car didn't have a rev limiter on it your friend could have revved the **** out of it. Then caused some valve float, and the pistons hit the valves. Thats my Hypothesis. As long as the car was completely stock.
