This is the Crane tool, I think its what socmguy was referring to.
But thats just for a GEN I and II engines, I don't think it would work on a LS1 would it?

yeah, that's the one. THanks.
Don't forget how much the tune will be. Mine was done by Ryan at Ryan's Performance Machines. He's the man! Hit the 400 mark w/ a torquer 2, and bolt ons through 4.10 gears! M6 of course.

FWIW, the crane valvespring tool is definitely worth every penny. What kind of RPM's are you wanting to turn? Stock lifters should be fine, and turning too high with stock internals isn't much of a good idea to start with.

Oops, thats not the right link. It looks like the one in the picture, but there is one for LT1 and older heads, and one for the LSx.

well LS7 lifters arn't much and are added insurance... ya i dont like the idea's of spinning stock motors high 6500-6700 is about right I shift my dad's 06 c6 @ 6500 it seems to like that plus any cam i picked would have to a 3000-6500 one for mid/high power so its really street able

Ditch teh lifters til you do heads. And just get an LS2 timing chain, no need for a full set.

Just get a heads and cam kit from TSP. In the long run you'll save money and they have some great budget heads as well as cams. Considering I believe John R or Matt there is making 465 to the rear wheels with a fast 90/90 the i think a MS3 and some heads, ported oil pump, new lifters, gasket kit, pushrods, double roller timing chain. I think he'll take care of you.

comp cam $330
pac springs $150
comp pushrods $120
ls2 chain $40
water pump gaskets $20
ls6 oil pump $130
oil and filter around $40
for a cam swap total of right at $830....if things had gone right

instead add in $120 for being ripped off on valvesprings, $40 for used lifters cause the stock cam was bad and chewed a couple up, $80 head gaskets, $80 head bolts, $50 head surfacing

so in the end it cost me $1160...well add another $130 if you count I ended up getting a set of centerbolt heads because I thought one of mine was warped...so $1290

kinda wish I hadn't added all that up now
