Default realistically cam swap price?

Well doing all the labor myself how much do they usually run for the LSX cars..

I know you got the cam ($399), pushrods ($100-$150), Springs ($100-$250), Lifters ($140), Timing Set ($90-$150), Dyno Tune $500

Obliviously I don't want low end parts, hardened rods, dual coil springs, some kind of good timing set?? and high rev LS7 lifters

anything else im missing? all that comes around $1,600 which isn't bad in my book

I was told $1,608 by a local shop. It ended up being $1,900 by the time new belts, hoses, water pump, ls2 chain, plugs etc. were added. I think you are in the ballpark but plan for the unexpected. Good luck.

The $1608 was cam, springs, pushrods, install, and tune. I went with new belts, hoses, etc. because I have 102,000 miles on the OD and wanted to do a little pm.

I think I had about 900.00 in mine, doing it myself, by the time I was done, cam, valvesprings, pushrods were like 700ish, then a LS2 oil pump, then LS2 timing chain, then all the gaskets, fluids, ect.

I think I paid about $1100. Did it myself but that included the TR valve spring tool and pulley puller.

If it's an auto factor in a stall as well. Do you have headers? You'll need them.

the thunder racing valve spring tool is the best. You can do two springs at once.

Default hmm . . .

I wouldn't reccomend a stall just as of right now b.c you're going through enough parts that may need to be replaced, let alone worrying about tranny parts right this second. Keep parts of the block you're working on in sections unless you pull the motor completely out of the car. I dropped the Tranny and motor last week and I am sure glad I didn't do it at once, b/c too much would have been going on.

If you're going with a large enough cam, you HAVE to have a stall. The car will not even stay running at a stop light if you don't put a stall in the car.

If your gonna change lifters, you have to add in head gaskets, head bolts, an oil change before start up, then after, and more engine coolant. The lifters are under the heads and the heads have to be removed to get them out. Dont forget your new water pump gaskets...they are cheap but necessary. Front cover gasket, front crank seal, and new balancer bolt.

It's not an option as to whether it's recommended or not. If it's an auto and he installs much of a cam at all he HAS to get a stall

i bought the best package from TSP for 720 bux, 130 on a timing chain, 130 on a ported ls6 pump, like, 40 on the cam bolt kit or whatever, and 30 on a new arp crank bolt. So thats like 1050, then add oil and missalanious parts, it was 1100 even. I did the work my self, and after a tune which for me was 550, it was 1650 bucks.

Keep in mind that if you are getting lifters and want them replaced the heads have to come off in order to swap them out.
