Talking Need some input on heads for 224 224 cam

My buddy is putting a 224 224 114 LSA cam in his car(01 LS1). A mild cam but he is wanting heads as well. What do some of you guys recomend? Or what do some of you have? Power gains? Prices? Looking for the best bang for the buck. I did a search but I yeilded nothing of great information.

5.3L heads CNC ported, 2.02 intake/1.57 exhaust valves 220cc intake runner. That will do the trick

I have that cam with TSP stage 2.5 5.3 heads and a ported fast90/90 in an A4 Iput down 417rwhp 407rwt(corrected numbers). If you stick with that cam and go with 5.3 heads I would run a thinner gasket for better quench and more power. I hope this helps

I have 03 era CNC Patriot 5.3's 214cc runners 2.02 1.57's. Made 389rwhp @ 37?rwtq cam only thru cats. Added the above heads and hit 420rwhp @ 396rwtq. I vote for a smaller runner CNC ported 5.3 head if you want to stay with stock castings. Their smaller combustion chambers allow for a nice compression increase along with extra velocity due to the smaller port runners vs other heads. These are the things smaller 224 cams like.

I had that cam with some custom ported 5.3L heads. I put down 410/390 and the heads were cracked in the intake runner. The feeling from a dig was incredible. It was definitely a sweet set up.

We have a set of Stg. 2.5 5.3L heads that would be a great match for that cam. The new 220cc runner works great on both mild to wild cams. You can also throw a .040" Cometic head gasket in to pick up a little extra power and torque. The heads will come with the PRC Dual Springkit good to .660" lift w/ titanium retainers and stainless valves. If you would like to reuse your valve springs, let me know and we can get you the heads minus springs and save you some cash! Shoot me a PM or give me a call if you have any questions or concerns!
