are you kidding? 853 is a crappy casting and they ditched those in 2000, thats why late 2000's and 01' 02' got 241's. so why would they go back to a worse head, answer: they didnt. you're wrong

you must be thinking that some 02's got 243 (LS6) heads.

Which they didn't, so he'd be wrong on that too.

Dude. How do you go from recommending the stickies be read to not caring what they say? The stickies are correct, whether you care or not. If you have seen 241's on 99's and 853's on 02's it is b/c someone swapped the heads or the complete engine at some point... period.

Oh ok. Well it's no big deal since all of the bearing sets are interchangeable. I guess I'll just spin to 7k and see how long the bolts last.

Cam i removed is 0965 S 19 0091 and from what i've been reading thats a 99-00 camshaft right? So my engine is a 99-00. So from all the information i have gathered here, my engine was a late 2000 GM replacement for the 99 Z28 that this came out of, and the 60K that was on the car would mean my engine actually has less than 60k on it then right? Hurray for the $710 complete harness to PCM Ebay LS1!

because the stickies dont get under the hood and look. some 99's got 241 heads. i just found another 99 with 241 heads that only had 60k miles on it and it was the orignal owner from brand new.

what gives is that people believe what GM wants them to believe. GM says there was no 241's on 99's, but there were....period.

it doesnt matter. there wasnt much diff between 853's and 241's. there basically the same head, the 241's weren't sandcasted so the castings are a little bit better. i doubt theres any noticable power differences.
