Thumbs up PRC Stage 2.5 Heads.. Good or bad?

PRC LS6 Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads, Precision Race Components LS6 Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Cylinder Heads, 64cc chambers, value springs good for 66 lift, and titanium retainers. http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/category.asp?catid=40 Heads go for $1,499.99.

Are these heads worth the money? Are they good for HP gain, drivability, and reliability?

Thanks in advance.

These aren't good heads? I saw your post in my other thread and I just want to know what's not "good" with these because I might be making that trade but I need advice. Thanks in advance.

#'s are just not always there. I would avoid the budget heads. I have seen A LOT or cars on the Dyno and many different combo's. AFR's always put down 40rwhp+.

$1500 is budget heads? WOW.... lol

Thing is, I would be trading my wheels(Firehawk wheels) for the heads and labor to do H/C install.

i have seen those heads make good power. and your not paying twice that much for them. Joe at T56 rebuilds made over 500 with his custom grind cam and the stage 1ls6 heads. i like the TSP heads myself they seem to be the best for the price and the ET's and AFR's arent worth the extra 1k bucks

There was a guy here in OKC that had a 07' C6 Vette and did the PRC 2.5 heads and MS4 cam, Fast 90/90 and Kooks headers and Borla and with only 1000miles on the short block dynoed 497rwhp.

I just put them on my new motor and I did have to do some cleaning up of where the CNC transition was. it had some bumps that would have caused turbulence.

This is my situation.

I'm about 75% leaning towards doing it.

Just depends on how far you want the heads to go??? The heads you got picked out are great heads but if you want the max AFR is the way to go

Will get the Tr224 Cam with 112 LSA if I get the heads.

I hear AFR are expensive, and in my situation I won't be buying heads, but trading for my wheels. I just want to be in the low 12s-high 11s making about 420-450rwhp.

For A 346 Stock Castings Mulled Over By A Good Cnc Program Will Give Uo All The Flow You Can Use

The Afr 205's Wont Nessiarily Flow Any Better That A Stock Casting With A Cnc Job..

Where Afr Claims To Be Better Is In That They Can Get The Flow With A Smaller Intake Runner Than A 853 Or 243 Casting.. Also They Calim Their Heads To Be More Durable And Consistent...

I Cannot Verify To Disclaim These Calims.. What I Can Tell You Is That Many Many Folks Have Made Great, Hell Outstanding Numbers On Cnc'ed Stock Castings And That I Believe For The Money Your Better Off Buying More Boltons That Buying Afr Heads..

Yes It Seems Logical That Smaller Runners With Simlar Flow Numbers Means Better Port Velocity Thus More Low End Tq... But The Reality Is In Most Cases Youll Never Notice This Tq And It Usually Dosent Affect Your Et's As Were Talking Low End Tq..

The Only Exceptions To This Ruel May Be Auto-x And M6 Cars With Huge Cams.. Even In These Cases Proper Mating Of Compodents Can Get You More Than Sufficent Low End For Good Driveablity

What I See Too Much Of Is Stock Bottom End Guys Worrying About The Last .000001% Of Efficency On Areas Of Ther Power Band That They Will Never Use When Raceing...

If You Really Want To Go Fast Then You Need To Start With A Bigge Rand Stronger Bottom End.. Being It Dosent Seem Thats In Your Current Budget (or Mine) Tsp Cnc'ed Heads With A Nice Sized Cam Will Get The Mst Out Of Your 346 Without Killing Your Wallet... Past This If You Want More Id Either Look Into A New Shortblock And (then Yes You Will Need Better Heads) Or Poweradders (on In My Future Plans Both

Btw My Tsp Combo Made 430rwhp Wthr A Massive Drive Train And Unlocked 4000 Stall In 100 Deg Weather.... So For Those Who Say The Heads Dont Perform I Guess Im Lieing...
