a friend of mine did that with his when he missed a gear. the head still looks exactly like that, and runs fine with the new pushrods. I think he went ahead and put the hardened chrome molly ones in.

Thats the **** I want to hear! lol

To quickshift... find I write up and spend a weekend out there to check it all out. The job is more time consuming than it should be to pull off some silly valve covers, but not hard at all.

Anyways... I dont know if I have the ***** to pull those heads off. I am thinking about just saying **** it right now... getting a credit card and get the heads and cam. Then I wont have to worry about my valvetrain.. just my clutch, and rear end.

What do you guys think after hearing the video? Thanks again for all the input guys, will let you know the results.

it could. but when I installed my cam I fly cut the pistons exactly where it got hit by the valve so the only damage done was fixed by flycutting

Ah....the motorhead voices of reason!! I agree with these guys though, if I find the same thing with my car...I'm going to tell the wife what's happened and give her "all she needs to know". It needs to be fixed and the only fix is new heads/cam.

Flycut?

When i hit the rev limiter doing a burnout at school. Mustang thought he could do a better one,i won.I snapped a pushrod and tore it apart to check out if there was any head damage and there wasnt any but still went ahead with the texas-speed.com head/cam package. For the price it was defiantly worth it.

Put it back together and it ran like *****... but thats because I forgot to put 4 plug wires back in lol. Ran perfect after that. No metal in the oil so its mia I guess.

The metal could easily be "stuck" in the lifter tray for that pushrod. Go in and fish around with a telescopic magnet to see if you can pull chunks out. Anything not in the lifter tray would have made it's way down to the pan and stuck itself to the magnet on the drain plug at the least if it was small particulate.

As for the other guy having that tick issue, try running a bit of Bardahl's Engine Stop Leak from autozone. I'm mixing in half a quart with my oil changes and it's quieted it down a good amount with regards to that kind of tapping.

I know my pushrods aren't bent, inspected many times over, also have hardened chromoly ones too. Short of pulling the heads and going to LS7 or caddy lifter's I think the $4 is worth it.

I picked up one of those magnetic rods that look like a pen and extend out from autozone. I stuck it down the hole and nothing came up. No metal on the drainplug either. I was puzzled. There were no metal shavings in the oil so wtf?

lol the guy who gave me the push rods asked me to pay him with an asian salad from mcdonalds. He was a cool guy with a bad *** hugger orange ss.

.
You have a good point. While this has been going on over 16months now and through many "spirited" drives and still nothing but the same ol' slight tick...it definitely wouldn't hurt to at least check out the pushrods and maybe try out the Stop Leak you recommended.

Thanks!

That is a straight pushrod compared to some of the ones I have seen lately. Looked more like a pretzel.

When you change your oil I would pour it through an old shirt or something and see what you find? I would do it out of curiousity if for nothing else
