take the free cam if you want to try it. springs are not a waist of money like noted above, comp 918 springs improve peak power and rpm on a stock cam over worn stockers, heads and intake do not need to come off, all gaskets are reusable unless you tear one up in the process, one of the esiest cam changes to do. i say give it a whirl and try to find some 1.8 rockers on the cheap to go with it.

If you're not going to get a tune after you install the cam, then do not buy/install a cam, plain and simple.

OK.... you don't want to have to smog test? Try the 2002 LS6 Cam and LS6 Springs.
GM says the springs will last 100K and it will idle and drive like a stocker. You will probably get about 20-25HP more.

save your money so you can do a mild cam then. it's really not worth the effort to swap from stock to stock

this is a complete waste of time. by the time u pay the labor to swap springs and the cam its not going to be cheap. ur going to spend another $500 to do it right. talk to jeremy over at mph (u know jeremy) about the cam he put in fat chris' car. made a huge chunk of power and u couldnt even tell it had a cam.

i say go for it...if you drain your coolant all you will need to purchase is a crank pulley bolt...i think you could see at the least 10 rwhp from the lift increaSE ALONE....

I agree, its a complete waste of time. I would not go with anything smaller than a 224/224. If you cant afford to change valvesprings or get tuning after a cam swap, I suggest you not even attempt it. You should really save up and get a nice cam (at least 228/232 range). The way tuning has advanced you can run a really nice size cam and it will start, drive and idle completely streetable.
