Yellow Under Oil Cap?..
Yellow Under Oil Cap?.. Odd one for you guys. My brother was changing the oil on his WS6 at my house today and we noticed yellow crud on the underside of his oil cap. Almost like a mustard color and texture.
He has had it for quite some time, and the yellow "stuff" will come back after you clean the cap.
I joked that it was yellow paint off of LS6 springs. But all jokes aside, the car runs fine, and has ran 12.67 on LTs, Cat-Back, 3600 stall, 3.73s. So I think its running ok.
Hard to say what has been done to this car. It definately used to have spray, and his passenger head has the numbers ground off (where it would say 241 etc). Any ideas?..

Its from very damp air, a little water in the air mixing with the oil , see it alot in engine that get short triped alot. like a drive to warm it up a bit then shut down and let it sit get cold then drive some more
I would say it's a symptom of short trips too. As long as the oil in the pan looks clean, I wouldn't worry. Switch back to the stock thermostat if he's running a cooler one. May help.
It's not a head gasket. If it is there are about 30 members in the last few weeks who have had head gaskets go.
The extra condensation in the air and lower temps during the winter cause condensation in engines. Mine was doing it last month when I only drove it around town. Now that it's going 50 miles a day to work and back, it's gone.
Drive the car on longer trips of 15-20 miles or more and it shouldn't come back.
