ZO6 cam on Ls1
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it . Im going to be getting a cam installed into my ls1 soon the shop is reccomending a 03 ZO6 cam for my ls1 . Does anyone know if this would be a good combination . The mechanic says it has the best power at lower rpm's than a bigger cam does which means you will make more hp at lower hp . He also says its a nitrous friendly cam can anyone help me before i make a mistake . Maybe some reccomendations for another CAM that will make HP in low rpm like 3200 to 5800 RPM

waste of money...way too small. low duration, high lsa, low lift...not the best choice.
if you want low end power and good street manners, its hard to be the tried and true 224 cam.
bolt ons and ls6 cam you're looking at 360rwhp
bolt ons and 224 cam, you should be 380rwhp at least

I have the LS6 H/C w/ LTs. I would agree that the duration isn't all that high, the LSA is pretty high, but the lift isn't like it is "low" at .551 on the intake compared to .563 on the TR224... I don't know how low you want your torque, but really the power does not seem any better than stock until about 3500ish. Really this cam is almost the opposite of what your guy said. It improves the upper rev range compared to stock more so than the lower. I like it because there was seemingly no MPG penalty and the idle is basically as smooth as stock. And the fact I got the cam with the assembled Z06 243s for the cost of an aftermarket cam didn't hurt either...
You would probably see a little bit more benefit than me bc I still have the stock stall and 3.23s. I'm no expert but I would assume that an aftermarket cam like the TR224 with less LSA than the LS6 cam (which is something like 117.5) would probably make a bit more power in the range you posted.

I have one in my 98 a4 longtubes and most bolt on and love it. Didnt want to screw with a stall and it does great, would agree that there is absolutely no difference below 3500 rpm but it pulls great above that. Idle and every ting else te same, but if you want a little lope get something bigger, and if you have a stall i would go bigger as well.

theres a a guy here in the forum whos screen name is crager and with z z06 cam and a lid and a closed borla he dynoed 360rwhp+. Not bad for not having full exhaust. and stock heads. Its a good sleeper cam especially if you get the 243 heads and full boltons
