Default Head & Main bolts - Fel-Pro vs. ARP

What's the difference between Fel-Pro and ARP bolts? Would they both work equally as well on a blown motor?

i do not believe felpro makes head and main bolts... they do make head gaskets...

ARP all the way... settle for nothing but the best on ur High HP engine. And go with studs for more strength

Fel-Pro is still torque to yield...ARP is not...in fact, I believe Fel-Pro is buying them from whoever makes them for GM and reselling...

So stock is TTY, and Fel-Pro is then. ARP is not? I thought TTY was a good thing for secure hold-down.

I'm a little behind on the TTY vs. non-TTY issue.

tty is a PITA to install (takes a angle torque gauge to do it right) and they CAN NOT be reused....plus they tend to break when your installing them (had oil pan bolts do this)....

non-tty (ARP) just get installed with a torque wrench and can be reused again.....

in truth, the best is studs. They make install of heads much easier (they act as a guide), are stronger, and you actually get a better torque reading because your not dealing with threads in the block durring torquing.....

get the ARPs 12-point nut head and main studs, and your engine will be almost nuke proof....
