Default Which lifter to choose

I'm on the way to assemble a LS6 engine for my Camaro. It's going to be Procharged. Which lifter to use? Com Cams or LS7? I'm not shure if the LS7 fits on my block and if them are something special. Would like your opinions. Thanks.

Comp 850 or the Caddy Racing lifters, would be my personal choice... ~$200 (Comp)-$250 (Caddy) range. The LS7 are a little less expensive...

Yeah, LS7 lifters can be had ~$100 from Scoggins. I would shoot for those if you are about saving money. No, i don't think it's a shortcut either to go w/ LS7 but someone correct me if i'm ignorant.

I think the LS7 Lifters will suffice.

LS7 lifters are now GM replacement for LS1. I got mine from Summit Racing.

SDPC has them for a reasonable price! http://www.sdparts.com/product/88958...esEngines.aspx

If that doesn't work it is part number 88958689

Huh? No they are not the same...

BTW, SDPC is about $50.00 less than most of the other sponsors on the Caddy lifters...

These are the LS7 lifters http://www.sdparts.com/product/12499...esSetof16.aspx

Part number 12499225

Thanks for your time but do you have an idea of the main difference between them?

The LS7 lifters are good lifters and are now the stock replacement parts from GM, the Caddy lifters are designed to be lighter and more stable if running higher RPM.

Sort of stockers (which are good by all means) versus the lighter weight, better oil metering, and more stability at high rpm race lifter.

Can't go wrong with either, IMHO. The LS7's should be fine for a Heads/Cam car stock block. We have used Comp 850's (which are stock equivalents) for Cam/bolt-on, Heads/Cam, Heads/Cam/Nitrous, and a new set is going in our LSX 454... The Caddy's are the premium option.

I'm planning to go with a LS6 (3.905 bored) with a Procharge (D1SC) but for about 8-10 pounds of Boost. Which one you think would be the one of choice? If you say the Caddys that's ok, but between the LS7 and the Comps 850?

If on a budget I would do the LS7s, if not Caddy's all the way. I would also put in some LS2 lifter cups so you don't have to worry about dropping a lifter during a cam swap in the future...

SORRY TO TAKE YOUR TIME BUT YOU ADDED SOMETHING. WHAT IS THE LS2 LIFTERS CUPS? DO THE LS2 ARE THE ONLY LIFTER THAT USE THEM OR THE LS1/LS6 COMES WITH THEM TOO?

They are compatible with any Gen III or Gen IV engine and lifter, they are just a different design than the original Gen III lifter cups/guides. If you are buying all new components, I think they are the stock replacements now, kind of like the LS7 lifters have taken over as stock replacements for lifters in Gen III and Gen IV engines. If you are rebuilding a used LS6 then they are an inexpensive upgrade while you are in there and really nice when/or if it comes time to do another cam swap... We have them now in our 2002 LS6 block LS1...
