I never really post here very often i usually read alot of post if anything but i am one that has alot of money and im not one to brag. I earned every dollar i have $62,000to be exact and have my 04 cavailer paid off (daily driver) and my 01 TA paid off. I never got one penny from my parents. I worked 14 hour days for 2 years, 2 jobs. And im only 22. But the point I am getting at is i would like to have 550-600na wrhp. That is the whole reason i worked my *** off for 2 years is to get me some big hp but i would like to know how much do you think it would cost to get me there. I would have to say my budget would be 40k. Also what are some good shops? Being from Nebraska there arnt any around here. Any imput would be appreciated.

Well here is the deal. you are NOT going to make those number with less than 400cubes, race gas, FI, nitrous. You are limited by size the more cubes you have then you will be close but untill then you had better stick to FI or nitrous. You can make 700 flywheel horsepower out of a 427 large cam beast that might put 575-615 at the wheels. and that is kinda pushing the pump gas N/A theory.

Where in his post did anyone read stock cubes? I wouldn't consider my motor an ls7 because I don't have the cool heads and intake, but I don't think this guy's trying to split hairs about the name.

Dude, if you have 40K, then you should take the time to do the research.
Call a sponser ====================>
Here is a short list of what you will need:
Motor (big CI) look for 402, 408, 414, 427, or 454. For top of the line 454 lsx, probably looking at around 6-7k:
Heads/IM: Could go ETP w/ fast 92mm: probably cost you say 4500 w/ porting and everything.
Exhaust: 1 7/8" long tube headers w/ some sort of cat back exhaust. say you spend 2K
Tranny: turbo 400 (no idea how much it costs) but no more than 3.5k
Rear-end: 9" or 12-bolt +TA, LCAs and other suspension goodies 4K
This is your basic package. It is only a start though. You will need other things miscelaneous things. But if you really have saved $62,000 why not invest it?

I didn't know big cubes made a gen 4, since I saw a 422 back in 2000. I was smart enough to make the number he's looking for though. I guess I'll keep learning, you keep educating.

well for the most part big cubes does, But if someone is out of their mind enough to spend the kind of money its costs to re-sleeve an ls1 block than have at it. So I guess the only other thing I can wrong about is the c5-r block. I just didnt remember that the first time. But, I didnt see you mention it, so there I contributed to this thread with more info.

ill give you the most reasonable answer... for that kind of power at the block, you should start with SLP's engine parts kit, comes with heads, and cam. its the newest thing they got, from stock will put you at 525hp at the block...next look into there other kits for upper intake manifold, rocker arms, long tubes. your going to need a new MAS to handle the ammount of air that kind of power needs, and a new fuel pump...**** prob a entire fuel system upgrade. get the airbox lid, and nostril kid from somewhere on this site. then you need to get meth injectors, and 100% water so your pulling about 112 or 115 octane. if you do all that and all the small thigns aka harmonic balance pully, eletric water pump, and such. that should about cover it ...without destroying the rest of your car..aka gears, rear end, crank anything like that...money better not be a factor...btw what i just listed comes upwards of 7000 before labor which going rate is 50 dollars every half hour, then about 4 or 5 dyno tunes for 170 an hour, and have them run it so god damn lean that the bitch is a bout to crack your newly purchased 3000 dollar heads. everyone agree this should get him somewhere in the 600hp range?

Sounds about right, but i guess when you have money, ANYTHING can be done. but like everyone else said here when you put 600hp to the wheels you really have to redo everything. So put the 10k in the engine to bust out the HP, the Another 10k to Make sure it can handle the HP, then add Labor maybe another 10k. So look about 30K more or less. But not going to happen with a Stock 346, Just sell your LS1, Trans, and rearend and add that money to what your going to spend. Your going to have to a 408+ Cid, Maybe a LS3? but if you dont want to risk it go for the LS7. But think you even have to get a New harness which is 1k alone...
30-35k Is my guess

My vote is still on the schwartz LS7.. its 700 fwhp in streetable trim.. if you want to go above that with a N/A engine i think you would be loosing some drivabillity and my answer would be LS7 with a twin screw.. should put you at the 1000 Hp mark easy.. but for a streetcar most of the power above 600 rwhp is just converted to smoke anyway
