Default heres what i got so far

i have a 99 ls1 and im going to be rebuliding the lower end. i spun a bearing. i orderd from work the comp cam 54050 valve train up grade.105 lbs seat presure springs steel retainers and magnum push rods. i have a low budget, what is going to be my best bet with stock heads for a cam? im doing all the studing on the cam topic but still have a few questions. im looking to get 400hp if posible. i have a m6. also do i need to change lifters or are the stocker ok. dont want to go extreem on the cam. wouldnt mind a choppy idle either. and are the stock rockers ok to for 400 hp/ after market cam. thanks aaron

for stock heads i would buy one of cartek's cams personally .

the lifters should be straight if you are not wanting an extreme cam . though if you are going to pull the heads to change the lifters might as well go with some heads or at least a thin gasket .
with the right bolt-ons you should be able to reach 400rwhp cam only .
good luck with your build!

IMO a cam is always worth it, stock heads or not. whats your budget? are you just replacing the rod bearing or are you going to do a complete bottem end?

my budget is 1,000 im putting a crank and bearing in it. i spun a bearing last year and figured since the motor is out ide consider doing a cam swap. so if i where to swap to a bigger lift and duration cam it wouldnt do me any good with out ported heads or after markets?
