i wanted a trex but the powerband just starts too high, 3500 rpm is a little rediculous, id say go ms4

They both move pretty good as long as you have 4.10s, without gears they don't seem that impressive.

taking the lift and duration and everything into account. power bands and all...

isnt the ms4 and the trex pretty much the exact same size.. ms4 is more streetable i thinik.. but as for size.. and more power.. they are about the same yes??

I was under the impression the MS4 has more power under the curve if that matters? It still makes some mad power up top also.

if the vindicator requires flycutting, can we put it in the same category as the ms4 and trex? seems like vindicator would make more power gains ove the other two cams

it is in the same category but for some sort everyone go's for the ms4 and trex both great cams but if your running them on a stock 346 with stock heads and gear it would not make the most of the two cams. but with the vindicator i have had great luck with stock 346 , stock heads(243) and stock 342 rear gear.pluse sounds great nice lope. have you tryed to talk to RON yet about fly cutting cuz i dont think you have to.

Well even between the trex, ms4, or vindicator... would 3.73s and a ss3600 be good enough to support any of the three?

Those gears and stall would work better with the MS4 or vindicator since they have better power under the curve.

I have the TRex in my 98. Stock 98 heads, intake, ported t body, no flycutting. Long tubes, 3" x with Edelbrock 304's, M6, 9" 4.30 gear. Full weight. Only ran it 4 times but ran 11.96 @ 114 on my last pass shifting at 6400 because the intake is to restrictive. No PTV problems in mine and drove it 150 miles each wat to race.

I've been trying to decide between these cams for a while as well. My buddy just had his MS4 installed and tuned by Speed Inc. and he loves it so far. He put 425 HP and 390 Ft/Lbs of torque to the wheels. He has true duals over the axle, lid, pulley and hooker headers. He hasnt been able to drive it other then back from speed inc. due to the 20 degree weather and salted streets but he says it idles great and driveabillity was surprisingly good because he only has a 3.73 gear.

i think they both make about 425.. w/ supporting mods.. they just make them at different times... they both even out about the same.. just ms4 is more streetable....

correct me if someone else has diferent opinion...

I'll tell you this you cannot go wrong with the MS4 just make sure you invest in some serious dual valve springs like the patriot extreme or some comp 921's. I think the MS4 has the best power curve of any off the shelf cam and I know one of the Vindicator cams is just as good. If you want the best go with an Ed Curtis cam from FTI and you will make even more power, but I wouldn't do that until you have purchased some nice heads then go with a custom cam.

my trex has a pretty nice power/torque curve. 350rwtq at 3200 rpms? I'll take that over a bunch of internet traffic about how the trex doesn't make any power except in the high rpms. I made 410rwhp/390tq cam only through 9" with 4.11s and locker. Trapped 118mph on it's first pass with a quick tune and bad readings from the o2 sensors due to open headers.

el diablo those are nice numbers...ive been seeing those numbers often with these two cams...it just seems to me that the ms4 and the trex are virtually the same, cept the powerband, making the ms4 more driveable
