final say: ms4 or trex
alright everyone has their own opinion on which cam they prefer for their
f body..ive been looking at a lot of threads and it seems that both these cams get a lot of compliments for cam only applications...disregard the idea of custom cams and think only about the ms4 or trex...
what cam do you like best and why?

Pure race car T-rex. Street/Test and Tune on Sunday for braggin rights MS4. Open headers is one thing and a street driven car is something else. T-rex is too extreme for the steet for me.

With either cam your going to need gears, if you don't have them already, 4.10s will make your car fly off the line with either of those cams. On the stock 3.42s my MS3 isn't that impressive at a low rpm, but when it gets up there it really starts to move out. What are you looking for out of the car exactly? Track, light to light occasions, etc.? Like you said both cams get great compliments, but what mods do those that praise them have. Because if you expect to be quick off the line with your factory gears, and no nitrous, then you might want another choice. If you just want a cam to say my cam is "Big", then either one will work for you.

You have 4.10 gears so your car is going to move, compared to mine. I don't have any experience with the MS4, since i am currently running the MS3. I was contemplating on going with nitrous, but i have no opted out of it. Now i wish i would have gone and sold my MS3 for the MS4 prior to the install. Either way you can't go wrong with Thunder Racing or Texas-Speed cams, you just have to find the right one for what your looking for. I suggest if your not stuck on one cam, you call one of these shops and see what kind of specs they throw at you. You just might get better performance off one they custom grind for you, rather than one off the shelf.

generally you do not need to flycut pistons...both cams fit stock heads and pvc is not a big problem...although, it is very close. lets just say over revving too much would set you back more than youd like...
as of right now, im running stock 3.23 gears, and a stock stall...
BUT...when i do decide to put the cam in, i will have a pt4400 stall or 3.73 gears installed, or maybe both...so on that note, what do you think?

stop with the ptvc crap. i have milled my stock heads and ran the t-rex to 7200rpm on a normal basis. i now have patriot 243 and have no problem. amber and joe were running a cam bigger than the t-rex with 243s and had no problem. the trick is staying with normal sized valves. anyways, i love my t-rex and would never change unless i went even bigger. whatever you get the tuner has his work cut out for them to do it right. i spent 8 hours with my tuner on a load dyno fixing what a shop in vegas screwed up. my buddy had afr225 with a m4 and had some really weird motor probs, probably has nothing to do with the cam but i like the t-rex.
