It bugs me whenever I hear about this stuff.. seriously, if you have to ask about the 1998 models you shouldn't be getting a fbody, there the same as the rest with the exception of the 02 models have the different wheels, SOME came with the ls6 intake not all, and bigger heads but I have friends who have 1998's a 01 and a 02 and were all the same speed so I really think this stuff is a myth or something because we don't notice jack ****?

there is nothing at all wrong with 98's. The pcm is a lil harder to tune but honestly if your tuner is halfway decent they wont have a problem with it. As far as power i know lots of people that have later ls1's and when we go to the track their cars aren't any faster then mine is and mind you my car is alot heavier then theirs are (close to 3900lbs with me in it). As far as reliability i personally know a guy with a 98 that has close to 200k on his motor and it runs perfectly fine and he drives it pretty hard on a regular basis. The only time the rodbolts would come into play is if you were to swap to an aftermarket cam and regularly pushed the car up to over 6500 rpm other then that the rodbolts will be fine. Also the 98's come with a metal gas tanks which weighs a lil more then the plastic ones but who cares
