I'd be a little more thoughtful about this one than many will be...the reason I say this is that you've got to consider the extra weight you're going to be hauling over say an F-body or Corvette. You'd definitely want more convertor to help get that truck moving, but then you're not going to be able to tow with the rig like if you had that smaller stall in there.
So unless you're determined to make this a race truck, I'd consider a bit smaller camshaft like our 220R cam or a few other we get from CompCams for our truck driving friends! These smaller cams will retain more of your bottom end and mid-range power which is VERY improtant in these heavy trucks!
Let me know if I can help with your combo, and we'll get you into a setup that you'll be happy with!

DONT put that cam in a 5.3... especially not in a crew cab.
go smaller, the 220 or 224 would be your range... custom grind for your specifis goals is always what I suggest, I run a 224'ish custom grind in mine. hit up performancetrucks.net and look around at the setups, that will give you a better idea of what you should be looking at for that thing.

...still about power to weight isn't it? ...but I 'spose with a heavier vehicle you need torque over the band over horsepower. That makes sence.
...I was really just speaking to the cam itself. I love it. It can be dialed in for daily driving despite what some have said. It rips. ...but that's experience with an LS6, not a 5.3.

less cam, and more converter/gear gets it done in these pigs... just watch that little vid of mine... my cam is little by ya'lls standards but it gets the job done... its about combo, not just a hodge-podge of parts that "people like"

Just as Matt stated above, definitely reconsider your cam choice here. The MS4 is WAY too big for a 5.3L motor aside from the fact that it is in a truck. IMO, a 224 cam is over-camming a 5.3 motor. With the added weight, the low end hp/tq loss is more noticeable than what you see out of the cars. We have run a 214/218 on a 110+4 with good results. I would look at something with similar duration. You could probably go alittle bigger on cam with a converter...

for a CC 5.3, 3k stall w/ 4.10's go no bigger than a 220.
i'd say 218 to be all around.
wow i could do that when my truck was stock and the brakes would hold the truck back and not walk.
needs to get that idle surging fixed too

thanks for all the input, guys.
after hearing from silver-mod-o, texas speed, and especially bluecajun5.3, i'll have to pass on this cam. i believe i'll shoot for a 220.
bluecajun5.3, i haven't checked performancetrucks lately; how's that n2o setup running? i know the install pics i saw were awesome.

I ran a 216/220 comp in my 5.3 and it was a really good cam. I was still able to pull my racecar with no problems. it was on a 114 ls but i think i would have liked it a bit better on a 112 or 110.
