I think this is simpler than it seems.
The question now is: "How and why are these shops coming up with thw big numbers"?

When the question should be: How and why AREN'T the other shops at that level yet"!

And if we are making the leap, then what is stopping the other shops?

Some more words of wisdom for you, " Some men wake up and say 'WHY', While others say 'WHY NOT'".

And

"There are those people that Make Things Happen, and some that Watch Things Happen, while others just Wonder WHAT happened".

I know which one I am, which one are you?

That's not quite true. Jason's pass last night was 128.9 with only 14 more PEAK RWHP. That is signifigantly faster. His torque curve is what really puts him over the top though. With the gears he has, shifting at 7200 drops him right back to his torque peak...

hey Lou, are you going to be at the Breathless Shootout? if so, what cars are you bringing with your newer packages? are you going to hit the Breathless dyno while you are there? this could settle it once and forall (except for the naysayers about the flycutting pistons, unstreeability, etc). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> i know of a few people heading out that way that check this board frequently! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

I understand your reasoning, but it's kind of assinine to make a statement like that, when you guard your new found technology like you do.

I'm not bashing your work at all, but that comment really struck a chord with me I guess.

I know this is a dumb question from a chassis builder but why are we racing the dyno????? It is a tool AND only a tool. The dyno isnt going to make you win a race.
All the tuner shops give out dyno numbers to prove their worth just like the chassis shops give out 60ft times how many "G"s on the skid pad.
If Lou doesnt want to give up propreitary info on his cams then that is his business. There are lots of things that I and other chassis guys dont give out either.

Good tuners/chassis builders/racers don't have to make excuses at the end of the track. We use lots of tools to help set everything up ahead of time, but we measure real performance on the track or street. You don't go 142mph by accident, regardless of what the dyno says.

Exactly.

If LGM declines to share cam specs that is his prerogative. Of course he also realizes that the DIY nature of our site means that folks will constantly pick and claw at him for the cam specs.

Little Lou has that package in his daily driver Z up here at Purdue. He runs pump gas in that car. When it's nice out we'll get some track numbers from him on slicks thru a 12 bolt.

Well, actually no JS. The pistons are straight from GM. The bearings are straight from GM. The rings are gap less and i think are hurting me more than helping.

Balancing? what balancing? The motor has stock rods, crank, etc... What balancing was done? The stock parts

The 10.66 was with LS1 heads, amigo.

Now your claims on power...and a rebuilt short block.

Hmmm my power was with in 10 rwhp of the motor before the rebuild and after the rebuild i had a larger cam. So where did the power come from? the cam or the rebuild?

I shift at 6800... just like my bone stock motor... since the parts are essentially the same.

JS, please dont quote about my car and its internals if you dont know what your talking about.

John

Now I have a real problem with the guys on here that say,"having a rebuilt shortblock doesnt do u any good or give u any extra power.

Are u kidding me?
.

Then u take a setup running a STOCK GM shortblock with killer heads, hyd roller and a max shift point of say 6800?

John relax I assumed u balanced the setup. Its all good and I'm sorry u got offended by my comments.

I did say,"John works real hard to get his car to run the number too."All I'm saying John is your shortblock isnt stock anymore,U can say it is but it isnt.

Dosnt take away from what u accomplished, and I respect you and your ideals completely.

I know I'm probalby not going to any events this yr so I have no room to talk but just for curoiusity sake, are u gonna run the pepper at any track other than HRP this yr?

Any guesses what we will get out of our Solid Roller 346 cu in in about 2 weeks??
If we don't hit 500rwhp, we will pull the engine out and change what ever we have to change to get there with 346 cu in and LS6 heads.

Lou G [/QB]</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">So Lou on this 500rwhp beast you are gonna build is that going to be through a 12-bolt/9" or through a 10-bolt? Just curious if you are building a dyno queen or a fast car. I would hope you honestly wouldn't want people to believe that you could build a motor like this and go out and run 130+mph on a stock 10-bolt. If you get 500rwhp with a 12-bolt and 430+ gears I'll be the first to congratulate you. But, I think if we put a dyno-prepped drivetrain in Jason's car we would be very close to that number now, wouldn't you say?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Paul- that LGM solid roller motor may well end up in a 'Vette, negating the whole 10-bolt/12-bolt issue.

Why dont all of yall go to the track and prove the numbers!!!! : <img border="0" alt="[punch]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" /> ( Of course that put the chassis builders under the gun because then it my chassis has this and his has that) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> All these race that are coming up we need a tuner class so all the sh*t talking will be over with!!!! <img border="0" alt="[shoot]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />

Here is my philosophy on this thread: IF everybody spent the same amount of time worrying about their own set up as much as everyone else's they probaply would be a lot better off. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> PLAIN AND SIMPLE <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

BADZ is a shortblock considered untouched once its opened up and redone even using stock parts,U say yes and I say no?

Doesnt make u or me right but.....
Most engine builders will tell u there's 10 to 20 hp in prepping a shortbblock properly not to mention the abilitiy to shift it much higher.

Madman makes the most sense on here of anyone.
I'm getting back to RACING MY CAR!!!!!

I never said it was untouched internally as that was not the discussion, I stated that John's shortblock has GM stock internals (Stock crank, rods, pistons, bearings, etc.) that's all...

BADZ is a shortblock considered untouched once its opened
