Default examining break in oil

I had 1500 miles on my engine break in oil..

I noticed a decent ammount of metal "speckle" when looking at the oil in the light..

Is this normal or is something wrong?

what about the slight specle of metal in the oil? Is this to be expected with the rings and new bearings..

I hope nothings wrong with it

Yes you are supposed to be finding metal particles in the oil during break in. The oil should have been changed at much shorter intervals than 1500 miles though. Check the sticky at the top of this section and look under LS1 engine break in.

How many miles are on it? If you haven't beat on it at all I would say that is due.

If you can see it then it shouldn't be getting by the filter. On your next change, send in a sample to Dyson Analysis and get Terry's input. Make sure you tell him the background on the motor (i.e., its new, second change, etc.). He will be able to tell you if the metal content is coming into line even if you can't see it in the oil.

I rebuilt the engine.. Its just a fresh stock rebuild, with new bearings(main, rod, cam), and rings.

Oil pressure is great, Im just assumeing its rings and bearing coatings and it normal...

the oil was changed, and its got a few hundred miles on that, and i dont see any metal on the oil on the dipstick...
