Ive heard these are crazy torquey. How much would it be to build the bottom end? I know it has to be bored far, but can you use the stock sleeves? You cna use the stock crank too right?

you won't get 383 cubes out of a stock crank and block ls1.

The stock sleeves can only be overbored .010" I think. Very far from a 383. You'd be better starting with an LS3 or L92 block. But even then I don't think you will get to overbore it to 383".

exactly...the stock sleeves are too thin to bore out that much.

resleeve or use a different block

The 3.905 cylinders (honed) on a 383 LS1/LS6 is only worth one cubic inch. The 4.00 stroke makes up the additional 36 cubic inches. The only way to increase the bore size on the LS1/LS6 is to re-sleeve the cylinders...and that is very expensive and not worth the cost.

Gotta love big bore...GM gave us enough stroke. If i did a stroke motor i would go the LSX or LS7 route with a 4.125" bore. That's a 387cid, but close enough.
