changing LS1 intake to LS6.....
Hey guys last night I was changing the LS1 intake to and LS6 and I completely forgot what you had to do to the aluminum piping underneath the intake. I know you have to cut it or weld it, or something cuz the LS6 intake wont fit on the engine without modifying the piping. What suggestions do you guys have for this? ......

Easier AND cheaper than buying/cutting/replacing coolant piping is to simply grind off the ribs on the bottom of the intake. On the coolant lines, simply remove the guide brackets, add some electrical tape as insulation where the knock sensor wires get pinched by the lines and you will find it will fit perfectly.

Buy the LS6 coolant lines or do some grinding on the bottom of the intake. This is what I did and it worked great! If you want to do this, do a search and you can find some pictures of where to grind. Good Luck!

number 7 is notorious for melting down and taking out your motor with it. it has enough cooling problems as it is, i wouldnt try to aggrivate it.

i've had mine blocked off forever,,it has had no issues, but to each their own
My SLP LS6 intake came with the coolant lines,,i paid 400 for it all brand new, shipping and all.

HEY DINGDONG, The 01 and 02 dont have that coolant piping on them. So how are you going to justify that THAT is the reason for the #7 meltdown. I think you should do some more research. It is preferred to have it set with the cross over pipes. If it scares you, put 2 cross over pipes in it and bend the back one to fit. Dont grind stuff!

I think someone should do some research of their own BEFORE ripping into others with names.
#7 is notorious for going when modded heavily. FI cars have a higher chance of experiencing this as does people that tune for more HP leaning out the mixture as much as possible.
This is why it's recommended that the injectors be flow tested sometimes with the fattest flowing one put on 7. Even the flow of the intake tends to promote air flow to 7 more than the others.
It tends to run hotter, many have killed rings on 7. 01-02 cars have a crossover pipe on the back, but when going to the LS6 intake some omit the crossover and simply plug it.
Grinding the ribs is cheap and doesn't require you to bleed air out of the coolant system. Just because you can spend $$$ for a complete SLP kit, doesn't mean it's the best or only solution.
