Default first internals ive ever atempted

hey guys, need a lil help. so i baught some parts of this guy last weekend and he ended up having a cam, that i decided i needed but didnt have the money at the time. i go to the field for a week and i come back and my wife surpised me with the cam. pretty awesome right. its a lunati 5501lun i really couldnt find much information on it minus all the specs that completly blew my mind. the only part i could gather which was on a few diff sites was "excellent idle increased low end, mid range torque and power." excelent idle im assuming means its not real choppy? any ways the cam has 1200mi on it. my wife got it for 100bucks and considering the cheapest i found it was $340, so im thinking i got a pretty good deal, so to my question, do any of you know what kind of gains its good for and what else should be replaced while im replacing that valve springs and lifters, andthign besides that. hey i appreciate any help you guys can give me. thanks

if your goin to replace the springs might as well replace the push rods to cause those will bend easily, next while its down get a ls6 oil pump and a double roller timing chain

dude you need to get rid of that cam that cam is not good enough for your car your power range should go all the way up to 6200 and yea 01 02 comes with ls6 sorry and the push rods get comp cams 7.4 push rods they are stock length and harder. you need to get a good cam and the best cam for your set up is a 228/232 on a 112 seperation thats an awesome cam i have that cam right now and my car with ls6 heads and cam made 435 its really not the parts you put on your car these days it all about the tune so you will need a good one if your going to want to put out numbers if you have any questions dont be afraid to pm me and ask i love talkin about these cars oh and the cam you have now isnt even bigger than a z06 cam you need to get rid of it sorry

You'll be fine installing it. its not a very big cam, but you will definately gain power and will still be near stock.

very well..got a new question i was reading another thread and a few people had said not to swap cams in high mileage cars. my 01 ss has 101,004 mi on the tac. do the risks out way the rewards on this project? my car has been maticulously maintained and never had an issue, but i dont want to risk doing something that may make it less reliable.
