I'm in the middle of a clutch swap and noticed after removing my flywheel that I have a small rear main leak. Here's my question. Do I need to remove the rear cover to get it off or can I just pull it out and put the new one in there?
I think you can get it out without removing the cover but it will probably be a pretty big pain in the *** pulling it out that way. Seals like that you should really hammer out and hammer in. Also, I was under the impression when you buy a rear main seal it come as a set with both the cover gasket as well as the seal. Advanced, Autozone and O'rielly all had them listed as the entire set when I went to buy mine. Anyways, good luck man!

I got mine from the dealership for like $25. It would be possible to get it out with a flathead screwdriver and hammer the new one back in

That's what I did today. Got one from a dealership ($14), pried the old one out and hammered the new one in. Looks great. I don't have it back together but I'm pretty sure it won't be leaking any more.
