Default 370 vs 408

i was planning on building a 408 stroker out of a 6.0 iron block but i was wondering if it would be a smarter decision to just stick with the 370 as far as dependability ?

i'd stick with the 370 because i have seen very few 408 motors that impress me. per $ invested, the 370 will be more potent. i've seen higher numbers out of 370 motors lately than 408s.

Are you going to do the work yourself or have it built for you? There is nothing un-dependable about a properly build engine and a 408 is no different than a 370.

As far as power you will always get more power out of more cubes and if built correctly there is no isssue at all ever. The power will be made with the heads and cam selection. A properly headed and camed 408 will trash on a proper 370. No substituion for displacement... unless you go wth a power add of course

If you would like help and someone to guide you pm me. Its a new service I'm offering to users on the site. Wont cost you anything. I have no affiliations with any builders and will make neutral suggestions to guide you in making the right decisions for you, not what someone wants you to have.

The old saying goes........ Get as many cubes as you can from your dollar. 408 all the way.

408!!! I had one and ran the dog **** out of it with no engine issues. 370, if you have the cash to do either or, is a half *** way to go IMHO.

If you built a turbo I'd go with the 370, N/A or a sprayed motor I would go with the 408.

Maybe its who built the 408

I have an engine package that I'm comissioning for just this reason. It will be a 408 only. If properly done it is one of the best platforms. FI or N/A packages will be available in short or long block form. 408 only. Can I use a stock crank to save someone money? Yes but for 800 bucks you could have more power.

There is no replacement for displacement. Unless money is an issue spend a little extra coin and get the 408
