My tuner had mine set to 6700 but I thought that was too high so I had him lower it to 6400 and now I hit it EVERY time I get on it but I know im not hurting anything, I am going to have him raise it another 100 rpm to 6500 and leave it there even tho my hp curve keeps climbing.

Spun a bearing on dyno after H/C. If you drive the car everyday and rely on it for transportation to and from work/school, I would not recommend that anyone change the stock rev limiter on these cars without switching out rod bolts and replacing bearings. Cheap insurence. Just my .02.

BTW, I know that plenty do it w/o issue, but it is not fun to have to rebuild stock shortblock.

I have my limiter set at 7K and have clipped it many a time. Most shifts take place at 6600-6800. Tho' I must admit my motor is coming out at the end of the week to install some ARP rod bolts i've tempted fate enough. After the ARP's i'll bump to 7100

My shift points are at 6800, my limiter is at 7000. It's been that way for 3 years so far and i've tapped the limiter quite a few times.

Me too - I would rather bust their *** on the tree than abuse my stuff. You don't have sponsors? The 10K is your money? Then don't worry about making the one time best ever ET so you can post it on the best ever State ET board.

I'de rather be know as the guy that ran great last week and **** he is back again this week in the same car.

When the car had a big cam in it I shifted at 7000 and had the limiter set at 7200 for over 50,000 miles ... I went to a custom grind cam with less duration, lift, and a 110+ LSA and shift at 6200 with the limiter at 6500... a much better street car now..

This is a question that cant be answered! Your shift point should be just where the cam stops making power. Any more is just retarded. When your cam runs out SHIFT!

It was not a question it was a poll titled "how high would you spin a stock short block".. did you cast your vote?

you won't miss a shift and overrev, but your a4 will eventually begin the dreaded rev limiter tag between gears, most likely 2-3. upgraded oil pump won't help, if anything i think it would add to the problem of OIL STARVATION..
