I have no doubts that a stock bottom end can spin to 7000. I do it all the time.

My question would be how long do you expect your 4L60 to spin to 7000rpm? I have not seen many 4L60's even build ones last long at those RPM.

Just my $0.02

My limiter is set at 7500. havent got to drive the car yet but i think thats high enough for me. My short block has rod bolts though so guess only time will tell.

I run a full six qts. of oil for this reason. Doesn't hurt.

i did the same thing and my buddies do, too. 7,200 rpm rev limiter hasn't fragged anything *yet on their cars.

Blew mine up after H/C on the track (road course) at 6700. Shift light was set to 6300 and I always shifted at the light, don't even recall ever hitting the limiter on the track. This is gay.

I Use to shift at 6700-6800 now I shift around 6400-6500 to be safe. I wonder if LS2s have stronger rod bolts than LS1s.

Mine was at 6800 more than once last night during tuning. Hope it stays together.
