Default 5.3L questions

HI, I am new to this site. I am getting a 2001 5.3L block that has been bored .030 over and the crank journals are .010 under it also was honed. I have only done a top end on a gen I engine. My plans are to eventually get another 5.3 and use the heads and whatever else is usable. Also put a z06 cam and springs in. And put a turbo on it. This will all be going in my 78 Camaro Z28.

My Questions..
1. What is my displacement now that it has been bored .030.
2. (I am a reaaall newb) What does it mean that the crank journals are .010 under. Can I still use a stock crank? I would like to only use new pistons for the bottom end. Use the rest from the donor engine if possible.
3. Where is a good source for parts like bearings, gaskets etc. for this motor.

Here is my car.

1. 330 cubic inch 5.4L
2. It means that the crankshaft was ground down a little. The crank had material taken off so it's .010" smaller, so all you need are replacement bearings that are .010" larger. Simple, and common. You should be able to find them.
3. Gaskets at your local autoparts store, I get everything at Napa. Check Summit for the bearings or wait for the guys on here to speak up with a good vendor. I too am actually wondering if there are other places for bearings.

Thank you very much!! Appreciate your help. AS you can tell from my car the only experience I have with engines is the old carb'd 350.

An additional question... I have read on this site in a search to use a Z06 Cam, and I just thought is that the new Z06 (LS7) or the old Z06 (LS6)??

The LS6 cam...you should be able to pick one up for ~$200, throwing that in an otherwise stock LM7 (5.3 liter) will gain almost 40hp.

Get the cam for a last year Z06 with 410 HP. That is what I have in my 5.3 and I am super happy with it. But I have the LM4 5.3

It puts out the exact same curve as an LS1 with no loss of power.

Default Good Plan

Sounds like a good plan. Are you going with the fuel injections or are you going with a carb set up and running the msd box to fire the coils?
Either way is a good Idea, but if you are going to turbo the motor don't waste your money building it without going with forged bottom end. If you are going to put a different crank in you won't have to worry about the .010, thats only on the crank.

I plan on using the fuel injection. I have been told it is easier to use the carb set up. But That just seems like putting a prop on a jet plane to me.

I am going as cheap as possible with this build. I plan on using a diesel turbo off ebay with a little bit o' boost. I thought the stock internals could handle the power? Ive heard the internals withstanding serious boost, no? I was going to run 8-9 pounds of boost. I was only going to get forged pistons and use the rest of the stock stuff.

You should be fine with 8lbs of boost and a stock bottom end.

Just curious, you can't get your hands on an LQ4/9?

I could..but around here this stuff is not as plentiful. The closest junk yard has nothing good. I have to drive quite awhiles to get anything good. And when you go to NYC they rip you off for everything. I am just in a bad spot for it. The older stuff is much easier to find.

I have been a fan of the smaller cube motors for a long time anyway. Its been a dream of mine to build a high rev, small cube turbo motor for some time.
