Default PRC Springs ?

I ordered a set of the PRC gold springs about two months ago and findly had time to put them on about two weeks ago ,to replace my old PRC golds on my Dart Pro1's that i bought from Texas Speed, that had about 20,000 miles on them. The thing is, that when i got them they were silver or chrome looking, I call Texas Speed and they told me that they would work with my .651 lift cam. So i installed the springs and made a few runs. the car run grate the first few 7000 rpm runs and now it wont go over 6400 rpm. This is why i changed them in the first place valve float. Well i removed the springs and when i set them side by side there were different sizes in height from 2.235" down to 2.205" this is off only one head. here is some pics of the springs . I thought the gold were gold ! What do you think about the springs.

These has less than a 1000 miles on them. They look dark but second pic show the true colors

Here is the differance in the PRC Gold and PRC silver the gold one has 20,000 mile the silver has less than a 1000 miles on them.

The gold spring has changed a little bit over the years, but it's still pretty much the same spring. I have a set of the old style springs with over 50K miles on them & they still have good spring pressure.

With only 1000 miles on them why are some of the collapsed .030" this is a lot between two spring that was installed on the same head at the same time. And so the Silver one is rated at .660 lift. also , What are this springs called? (PRC Gold) or what.

The silver ones are called PRC Platinums on the TSP website I believe. What is the installed height and spring pressures at right now? With .651" lift you would probably need a .020"-.030" shim under the spring locater to run a tad more spring pressure with that lobe. That depends on the current installed height though. I've never pulled off a set with 1000 miles, but have seen some with 30K miles that were slightly shorter than brand new springs.

Have you always had those rocker arms or are they something new? Between 2.100" steel valves, .651" lift and the extra valvetrain weight of the rocker arms, those springs may end up taking a huge beating at higher RPM valvetrain harmonics compared to a lighter valve with stock rockers.

Yes , I've always had the Comp rockers , But i was thinking about what you said, Im thinking of putting the stockers back on witch will bring my lift down to .630 .. The reason i pulled the heads is because i keep pulling the rocker studs and so im having them helicoil to stop it.PRC Platinums are rated foe .670 lift, Right?

My Dart 225's were all 1.795" - 1.800" with spring seats installed. Which spring seats are you using? Was the exhaust valve intentionally sunk? Do you see the same variation across all cylinders?

Looks as if my PRC springs are failing as well. Although I think my problem is related to a mechanical over rev.

Im swithching to the Patriot Extreme duals on the recomendation of my mechanic and Patrick G.
