Default Lunati Voodoo cam 232/238

I recently discovered that I can order this cam through work for less than $260. It seems pretty big for a stock head 98 LS1, and that's why I wanted to ask yall about it.

The cam in question is the Lunati Voodoo 60512. Specs are as follows:

60512
Advertised - 282/288
.050 - 232/238
Lift - .599"/.601"
LSA/ICL - 113/109

At this time I have a set of Dart "take-off" beehive springs that arent on the car that I believe were rated at above .600 lift. If you know which springs that I am talking about then would they be adequate?

Second, how do you feel about this cam in a stock head 98 LS1 with LTs, 4"ORY, hooker catback, LS6 intake, 4.10s... and at time of installation a set of pullies, HP tuners, and two piece timing cover. Currently rocking a hotcam with LS6 springs.

I have seen cams that are much bigger than this one in stock head cars, but I just wanted some feedback, especially since the last thread on this cam was from last year, and I have yet to see feedback from it.

Should clear 400whp with a good tune. Will be a very noticable gain over the old hotcam. Not sure about what springs those are. Good nitrous cam. That 113 should give it a pretty unique idle.

Someone posted this. They thought it was a video of this cam. If it is then you're right about the idle, very unique!

Well the price is right. Does it fit your goals as to what you want to have the car do or does it just fit your pocket book.

I think thats a great cam for a cam only car trying to get more power, not too big, but big enough to give a good gain and will work great with nitrous or boost if it comes down the road.

Man I really like the specs too. And as far as it fitting my needs, sure. I am possibly going to go the 408 route in the future, but for now I think that I would enjoy this cam, plus a copy of HP tuners, pullies, and a 90mm tb setup.

Can you get a few? Well that all depends on weather or not you can convince a store manager to give you 20% off. since the markup is more than that you'll probably get it. I called the Lunati warehouse today and they have 2 in stock. The part number doesnt show up in the advance system (it does online at partsamerica, but not in the store). They'll call in and get someone at the corporate warehouse to order them, then they can mark them down for you at the store. I think they retail for 324.99.

Oh, go ahead and get them to special order a edelbrock 2piece timing cover. Retail is $212, with a few cams you'll get 20% off that too. Edelbrock 90mm tb's are less than $250 each with that discount as well.

I will probably be going with it in the future.

And as far as that sound clip, I agree. It is Naaaasty. Possibly the best sounding cam that I have ever heard.

Oh I should probably throw this out there as well. When I hear people talk about daily driving with a cam, well... My car sucks, or atleast everyone else would probably think so. It bucks bad, you have to drive heel-toe a lot (until it warms up), it has a hunting idle, etc. But I daily drive it and I have no real issues with it. I am going to get a copy of hp tuners so it will drive like a somewhat normal car again, and maybe so my wife would drive it. So if it isnt like a normal car again after I tune it then oh well, it cant be any worse than what i have now, lol. My tollerences are pretty high now.

my cam is a 232/238 6xx/6xx 111lsa..I dont have to heal toe it..The only times it bucks is when I just let it coast for along period of time(around 1100rpm) and when it does I just tap the gas a bit and it goes away. It rarely does this.. My tuner says moving up from my 3:23 will eliminate this, but like I said it rarely does this so I'm not worried about swapping gears just yet

Anyone else? Oh and I believe that the springs are rated for .625 lift. Or at least that is what dart advertises their springs as being rated for. I know that they are a PSI beehive spring.

I've read elsewhere that Dart uses the same spring as a Comp 918, and that PSI has supplied both. Actually, it was really easy to find, so here you go:

Dart heads, just have to let it be....

Associated and PSI supply everybody people....

I'm running that cam with PP ls6 heads, 225 runners, un milled, dual springs. Put down the #'s in the sign on stk injectors maxed out. I have since upgraded the injector, but haven't had the chance to re dyno. I know it will Dyno higher than that now. I'm happy with it.

Thanks Hammertime. Just needed a backup on the springs. A long time ago I visited PSI's site and I thougt I remembered it saying 625 lift... but I wanted to give yall a chance to say "STOP, what ever you do dont use them because those springs were actually made of speaker wire and have been known to cause engines to split in half and then explode" or something like that. But since its actually a 918 then cool.

Warp 6, care to share with us a video clip? Those look like good numbers, especially with a lack of fuel.

Sounds Good, This is the first time I have heard this cam. This is what I have put into my LS1 with PP Stage 2's, ported TB and Kooks Headers, no cats, & LS6 Intake and by the looks probally wont be firing it up for at least untill May. I didn't want any real radical cam becuase I am building a cruiser and not a drag strip car. I figured it would be somewhere in the vacinity 370-390hp behind a A4.

I think you'll like it alot, great low end power and still has grunt up top, at 2500rpm's it'll jolt ya back in your seat.

Didn't GMHTP magazine use this cam in their 383 buildup? The specs sound good. It ought to pull like a MF. And the price is right!

With my 6.0L and my 408 I use this cam. Go to Lunatipower.com and watch a video of my stock 6.0L with this came making a 1/8 mile pass....
