Internal mods on high mileage motors????
Hey guys,
I have a 2000 ws6 m6 and it has 121,000 miles on it. the miles are mosty express way miles... I am looking at putting a decent size cam in it. I would also like to put headers and an ls6 intake on it. After these mods car would be dyno tuned. My question is has anyone started these kinda of mods at this high of mileage before??? If so how did the stock bottom end hold up? i would be looking at 370-390 rwhp... Just a little worried about how the stock bottom end would hold up? any info would be great thanks.

My advice is:
1- do a leakdown and compession test first,
Based on those results then make a decition.
But, on high miles motors it is not only a matter of good ring seals, what goes south are usualy the bearings.
For the amount of power you want, a mild cam is all you need.

My friend has a 98 formula with 110XXX on it.
Was running great with a small 221/221 cam for many years.
He just installed a 238/242 cam with some ET 5.3's.
In about 2 weeks it started making a whinning sound like a belt slipping NOT.
Cut open the oil filter and said it looked like he had struck gold.
Rod bearings
New motor time.
