Default newbie question on ECT sensor

about to start my first engine build; 98 LS1 block with 853 heads. i have yet again a few more newb questions.

if 853 heads appeared on LS1s from 99-00, and i have a 98 pcm, will a 98 ECT sensor fit on an 853 head? If not, will a 99 ECT sensor be compatible with my 98 pcm?

last q, i assume i can get these sensors from an auto parts store like oreilly's or napa correct?

thanks again guys

The 98 sensor is a different thread size than the 99+. I just ran into this problem on my 98 with 02 heads. Either get an adapter for you 98 sensor or since I wasn't using the third wire for the guage, I just used a new style sensor and wired it up with the other two wires. I will know friday if it works, but I'm sure it will.

Makes two of us, 67.

So is the adapter going to be an NPT pipe thread? Would anyone happen to know what size threads so I don't have to make multiple trips to the hardware store?
