Default Disappointed

Well my results came back from the Dyno...........374.6. I would have guessed I would be around 400 or so. I was told my exhaust may be the culprit. That doesn't surprise me, but man 375. Tuner was recommended many times over, so I doubt its his fault.

Anyone think I had my sights set too high?

Well time to step back and punt and see what I can do. Suggestons welcome (tactful not smartass ones....no sence in kicking a man when hes down) LOL!!!!!

Install cutouts and go back.Or better yet Don't get to caught up in #'s on a paper. What does it run at the track. That's what matters.

Is it a auto or M6? What kind of dyno was it? Is the tuner any good?

I'm sorry guys....M6 stock gearing. Dynoed on a DynoJet

Tuner was HIGHLY recommended by several around here. People run this throttle bodies quite a bit I think (I think its the same person).

There were 4 pulls. Plus work on the street and all. In looking at the graph my max HP was 375 and my max torque was 359. The cam card says the cam comes alive from 3100 RPM to 6700 RPM. On the graph the HP starts to fall off right around 5900. Torque starts to fall off around 5000. Like I said, I doubt its the tuner....too many recomendations from too many people. They also said there the cam didn't perform like they thought it would. (Thats here nor there). I'm wondering if my exhaust is costing me or if the cam just doesnt have the power I thought I would have.

I would expect close to 400 rwhp with a medium duration like that for a M6. Thats pretty much the standard now a days.

400rwhp cam only cars are rare in the real world. Get heads.

yeah you should be closer to 400,the cats are hurting a little and no cutout kills about 5-6hp,we just did a cam only 99ss and it made 390 with the ls1 intake-that was with our 228 cam.I'll be honest with you 4 pulls isnt getting the most out of a combo.

Very similar combination as mine with almost identical results - found out the TB wasn't opening all the way and the y-pipe is too restrictive. I'm fixed the TB problem with definite improvements and going to put the TD's on and then get it back on the dyno to see how much improvement. Tuner says it should break 400 and then some.

You could be running out of injector if they are still stock.

Don't forget your 98 heads arn't helping you at all. I gained 6hp on a mustang dyno with a cutout, but i had an off road y.

I'll get the graph up soon. My graph says 364 hp, as I was leaving, we checked the WOT and there was some slop in it. That was adjusted so WOT was WOT. We didnt dyno it again, but he said that was prob 10 HP right there. So I call it 375 to make me feel better.

My exhaust is a train wreck to put it nicely.....looooong story. Unfortunatly what $ i have left has to go toward tires so it will pass inspection. My intent is to get the exhaust squared away and then heads. Could be a year or more on that. I know the 98 heads are not the best but they will have to do for now.

I guess I should look at the bright side 305 to 375 HP......not a bad start.

(I'm really trying to stretch this positiveness)

Why a crane cam? I thought all crane cams were designed to work with those accelerated lift rockers.

That isn't a bad start, but yeah i would check out what she can do with a cutout or a better exhaust. Had you taken it to the track pre-cam? If so take it again and see what she does, then compare the numbers.

Agree. Without heads, it's very tough to get 400+hp cam only unless your running a big cam.
