Default a few cams

i'm thinking cam time is coming up since i'm about to graduate and hopefully i'll get some cash . it's an M6, i've got a K&N fipk, long tubes and true duals. this is a daily driver. i've narrowed it down to the 228r, tr230, and the tr230/236. i'm really leaning towards the last two choices. i'm going cam only for a while, but heads will come in the next year and i've heard the tr230 is best suited for cam only cars. how do these two thunder racing cams compare to each other with drivability, performance, reaction to heads, sound, etc? thanks in advance.

and no matter what cam i get, i'm getting the ls2 timing chain, ls6 ported oil pump, and dual valve springs.

Are you going to stay with the LS6 intake or are you going to upgrade to a FAST intake system later when you change out your heads?

That is a step in the right direction. Glad to see you aren't on the double roller agenda. I say if the C5r vette can have a single roller than any street/strip car can too.

The camshaft range your looking at is pretty wide. I really like the 228R camshaft, but if your looking for something more aggressive then the 231/234 torquer v3 would be a awesome option. It uses LSK intake lobes & xer exhaust lobes with dyno tested valve events to provide power earlier than the previous torquer 2 camshaft.

The cool thing about the Torquer 3 is it has engine dyno tested within approx. 7hp of the MS4 camshaft with earlier power production & better street manors.

Did I mention they're on special

i've really liked everything i've read about the tr230, its just that i dont want to be regretting not getting another cam when i get new heads since they're meant for cam-only cars.

I was thinkin that something in the range of a XE-R 228/234 111*+ 3* would run quite well for your DD duties.

Depends on the REST of the cam specs. Read the cam stickies.

LS1 Cam Swap Package w/ Dual Valve Springs(Thunder Racing)
LS6 Ported Oil Pump(Texas Speed)

the TR230 is a proven cam. look at all the people who had that cam, all loved it for a street car. im running an X1 23O/227. i gained 70rwhp with just that cam alone with tuning.

i'm really leaning toward this one. just need to know if i'll need anything other than the parts and tools in my list.

just give Thunder racing or any other sponsor a call and let them know what valvetrain kit your gonna need. i know youll need retainers, pushrods, springs and a timing chain and oil pump would help.

youll love the TR230 or X1.. bad *** street cams that i have never seen any regrets on.
