Livernois Stage 3 vs Patriot CNC's
What would everyone recommend, I originally had the Patriot CNC'd heads in mind due to the fact that they are probably the best bang for the buck but the Livernois Stage 3's look really nice too. What does everyone think?

What size cubic inch engine are you building ? Stage III heads are too much for a 346 CI engine and are best suited for bores 4.0 and larger running large camshafts . With that being said, I have no complaints from my Patriot stage II ls6 style heads .

You can't beat the customer service that Patriot provides and they are a great bang for the buck head . You will not have any problem reaching your goals with thier heads and cam package either . I'm running thier 226/226-585/585 cam on a 112 LSA and it has great driveabilty and power under the curve as well .

I choose livernois time and time again with the cars I build (or help build/tech) because they have features almost no one else has.
Manley valves (they proudly say who make their valves, no mystery meat)
their springs are good to ~.690 and some people have pushed them past .710
and they are the only ones to do a 220cc +/- runner
This car just made ~470 w/ their stage 3 heads with a stock LS6 manifold

Another benefit w/ livernois is they can test everything in house, they are more then just a manufacturer...

What are you talking about The Livernois stage 3 heads are great on a 346, you are confusing them with their stage 3R heads... Plus livernois has just about the smallest runner out there with more low lift then anyone that I have seen.

Livernois are 1 of the few heads that actualy flow what they advertise (when flown independently). I highly recommend them

What I'm talking about is MOST stage III heads have intake valves 2.080 and larger , along with larger exhaust valves as well , coupled with chambers that are 4.00 and larger, intake runners in the 240cc range which on a 346 engine equalls a engine that has no low or mid range power . I'm not discounting Livernois heads one bit because they are badass heads, no doubt , but the stage III heads you are talking about are not what most people think of when talking stage III HEADS .
I hear what you are saying, however, just another example of what "most" do, and what Livernois does. They have their reason, it's also bad *** their 2.02 valve head flows what alot of companies 2.08 valve head flows.
And yes, GMHTP tested the livernois stage 3r vs. 4 aftermarket ls2 heads, AFR, TFS, Dart, and Edelbrock. Livernois beat everyone except TFS, and even then TFS only got about 5 more HP, not worth it in my opinion for ~900 more once you factor special rockers...
It's also a damn shame that more people running their heads don't speak up...

I just dropped my car off on Friday at Livernois and im getting the stage3 with 2r cam. I going to spray 150 Dry to it hope for 570 HP to the rear. I hope. They know what they are doing, Hands down.for 5300 dollars cant go wrong.

I bought my LIvernois Stage II's used and haven't installed them yet. I can tell you that I've been on the phone twice with their people asking questions and have had the friendliest conversations and great advice about head gasket selection etc. This was despite the fact that I haven't given them one cent. Good people! I'll post numbers when the parts are installed.

Well, I can't speak to Livernois and what they do, but I'm here to tip my hat to Patriot. I got their Stage II LS6 heads with 59cc and my F13 in my setup now, making the power you see in the sig... and that is with my stock (LS6) intake.
I'm still kicking myself for not taking more pictures of the heads when I got them. They turned out great, and you can tell that Patriot is great quality for the money.
You can talk ALLLLLLL day about "STAGE DEW" and "STAGE FREE" and all of that, what it boils down to is matching your cam to your heads proportionally. I can hack the you-know-what out my heads all day until they flow better Niagra Falls, but if your cam isn't matched to your setup there is no telling how much power you're missing out on, not utilizing, or actually losing.

Our heads flow great and there are no "mystery" parts in our heads. Only the best valves, spring kit, guides, seals, etc. Each set comes with its own flow sheet that is specific to that set of heads. There are several choices out there today. Many of course where not covered by the article in GMHT. Check out this article about a head cam package we did for GMHT http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...z28/index.html.
We can do these heads, cam, and pushrods for $1450.00 plus shipping. Keep in mind this our "budget" CNC ported 243's that flow around 300. Our stage III heads on a 3.905" bore are going to flow around 312 and 320 on a 4.030" bore. These will also have excellent .200"-.500" flow numbers. Keep in mind when you are looking at flow numbers to pay attention the bore size used during testing.

i flowed a set of livernois stage 3's and they had excellent flow all across the board..as a matter of fact they outflowed my afr 205's at just about every lift and they come with springs good to .690 inches of lift. As a matter of fact i have a set for sell if your interested
