112 or 114 lsa for DD? *Poll*
I'm going to pickup a 228R cam next month but im confused on the lobe separation. I don't really understand what this means except for one doesn't have as choppy of a idle as the other and is more street friendly... But what does it do, is it 112 would have a greater peak power then the 114? or what? How many people have 112s for there separations for daily drivers? This would be tuned of course after the cam install is done but would it sound more like a "cammed" car then if I went with 114 instead? I'm looking for a good drivable daily driver on the streets, but also wouldn't mind if it was a choppy idle sound. In fact I would probably rather it. What would you guys say and what does it do the powerband for the lobe separation?

226/236 .525 110lsa here.
Its all in the tune. My cam is on a 110 and drives just fine with stock gears.
You shouldn't have a problem with a 112

I have a 110lsa ASA cam in my WS6 M6 and daily drove it... Just couldn't turn the A/C on in stop and go traffic lol. I'm stickin with it for now even in the new motor, might go with a 112lsa on an MS3 if I swap to that... Depends on if I get this promotion and can afford my FI goals soon than I planned

232/234 here, I split the difference and went with a 113+0. But for your application I'd get it on a 112 w/ maybe some advance ground into it! i.e. 112+1, 112+2, etc. Buddy of my has a TSP 228 on a 112+1 and runs really well on the street and @ the track! It's all in the tune when you come down to it though, so if you like the "choppy" idle, go with it and find a good tuner!!
