BUT if you want to look at the money and do the best you can for it I offer a very stout 408 using Callies crank and rods and Wiseco pistons. No steps left untaken, the end result is a dependable stout 408 that will handle what ever you dish out. From a mild street setup to a carbed nittous huffing beast (current engine for a customer) we can build your dream engine.
Our Callies 408 is $4292 plus freight ($4042 for Eagle ), uses ARP through out and ACL race bearings, Clevite or Hell fire rings or in the above application GFX rings for the custom Wiseco piston that was created for use with L92 heads. This car will be spraying a 3 stage Direct Port.

If you are going with new parts, a complete longblock, parts wise, is going to cost you somewhere around 7k for a lower end motor and 9k for a top spec motor (or even more if you aren't careful). That's without installation or tuning.
If you just want a shortblock, yeah $3500 to realistically $4200 or so for the motor plus at least $1500 (but more like $2500) for the installation and $500-700 for the tuning need to be factored in. So, budget around $6k on the lowend and $8000 on the high end using your current top end parts. Once you start to see all the costs that go in, you get nickeled and dimed to death.
