Default Need advice on a CAM please

I have a 2002 NBM LS1 A4 w/ 3.23's w/ 50k on the clock. Im have some parts and im modifying my car but need advice on cam options. So far I have Hooker Coated LT's, ORY, SLP Lid, Smooth bellows, SLP MAF, Ported TB, and Vig 3500 stall w/ cooler and electric fan. Now I have been debating on what cam to choose from and I have been looking at the Futral Motorsport F-14 on a 112lsa. Do you think this will be an ok choice?

I'll take the change of post meaning that you actually read what the link had to say. Spend the $25 and you don't have to worry wether or not you got the right cam.

Most people make the mistake of overcamming then wonder why their combo doesn't perform like it should. There are lots of great sponsors on this board who can really get you pointed in the right direction. IMO, the F14 is too big for what you're looking to do, but the F11 might be perfect. Check with Futral and see what they say if you like their cams. Check with TSP if you like their cams. Or check with Thunder, LG, MTI or a dozen other great shops who sell great stuff and have the experience to back it up.

Your on the right track and I think you would love the f14 but yea go custom if you can to get a cam tailored just for your setup. The guys who do this will spec it so you get the perfect valve events to meet your goals. For the investment of time & $$$ you are going to make it is well worth it.

EDIT: ^^^^^^The guy in the post above me can spec you a great cam among a VERY few others on here^^^^^^^^^

i also wouldnt suggest going with a big cam. remember the transmission in autos dont like to be revved high. and u dont want a cam that makes power only in high rpm's.

also, if possible try to hook up with somebody in your area whos got a cam to see what its like driving in a cammed car. it takes awhile to get used to.

I would love to hear the F-14 in action. However there's no one I know in the area that has it. My local F-body forum no one has it niether. Only guys I know with cams have MS3's and larger. I guess I'll have to do alittle more research sense you guys might think thats alittle to big. I only want to do this once. What benefits would I get from a custom grind cam? I just don't want to get gipped for the extra money when I can find a cam that is pretty similar for less money. Does that many any sense?

Cam choices are a dime a dozen. There are so many that will work good for you I don't have enough fingers and toes to count. It all depends on how you want the car to act. Patrick G has alot more experience than I do on this subject and can definatley point you in the right direction. He can actually spec out the perfect cam for your set-up. If you want to go with an off the shelf cam look to our many sponsers that we have. Any of them should have something that will fit the bill.
