Guess I should stop wasting the 1/4 quart to get it up to the 3/4 of the marker huh?
When the level is a little higher a lot more oil splashes around and makes it up to through the PCV system. My car burns a little bit of oil, but not much at all. I used to burn a lot because I used to overfill by a quart for the track... you could see big puffs of blue smoke coming out of my exhaust, especially under braking.

Anyway, burning a little bit of oil is normal, but if you start burning a considerable amount, get a catch can. Otherwise it can foul your plugs and generate build-up in your engine, etc. You can also do the LS6 PCV system conversion: http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=18

I read up on the LS6 PCV conversion while I had my intake off. It is a nice clean look but a ton a vette guys still run catch cans with that, and say they get a lot of oil in the can.

The LS6 PCV didn't help at all. I still needed to install a catch can. It was a waste of money.

Mine has never used a noticable amount. It has about 42k on it. I did heads/cam maybe 1k miles ago and it doesn't seem to be using any since then either. Some apparently always use some though so I wouldn't worry about a little usage.

Exactly. My 99 C5 used hardly any oil with the stock engine, but the 382 LS6 that I put in last summer will use about a quart / quart and a half every 3K miles. I just check it every couple weeks and top it off when necessary.

At the most 1/4 quart between 3000 mi changes, but I have a PCV issue. I have not experienced oil burn.
