That's rather impressive. Your block destruction skills put mine to shame. I'm amazed the rotating assembly is still good. Maybe a rock or something slammed into it going down the road and cracked it at some point. Then, the added stress of driving it just perpetuated the crack. That's all I can think of.

ive seen some nasty blown engines... but this one takes the cake. esp with nothing internally broke in it. you should send GM some pics of it to see if they can figure out what happened

Doubt they will give a ****, its a forged motor with heads, cam, and nitrous. They will just say I shouldnt have modded it. Besides its a real freak failure, usually people just spin a bearing or something simple but no not me, everytime I break **** I have to buy at least a new block. Last motor the rod snapped and went through both sides of the block on the stocker and now the whole front is destroyed on my forged motor.

Im not sure if it was a cap failure or a timing chain failure since the chain did snap. But I would think if it was due to chain failure there would be more fukked up pistons and valves rather than a destroyed block since the block is stronger than the piston tops and valves.

My other thought is that the crank walked foward enough to rub or hit something.

BTW how did you get that 8.8 rear in there? Got a pic of the tq arm setup?

That kind of damage you normally only see when its being run on nitromethane. Holy crap.

looks like one of those cutaway motors you see at car shows or SEMA... the one's that are cut away so you can see the internal designs of the engine

In all seriousness though the only thing that can cause that is a casting flaw of some sort straight from the factory. Or like above poster said about hitting a rock and then having it start to slowly weaken the block until it just decided to give out. Did you notice any oil leaks or anything before it broke like that or did it just go boom?!
