I dunno about a casting flaw because that engines got some miles and time on it. A casting flaw would have probably showed up earlier like when I was spraying.

My guess is you had some piston to valve contact in the past that stretched, cracked or weakened the chain. The chain then busted, wedged between the block and crank gear and ripped the front of the block right off. After that kind of hit I'd be sure to very closely inspect and test the entire rotating assembly obviously.

im not buying the rock unless it was a stationary rock the the car stopped on at one time, i bet the block came from a hard hit car that had stressed the block from a hard front impact at one point of its life

There was no contact in the past, I know that. I think they chain just weakened from repeated high rpm use.
