My Patriot 226 to MS3 swap issue.
OK so I just swapped my patriot 226 for an MS3.
After finishing everything up I cranked the car for about 20 seconds with the coils unplugged to prime the lifters and oil pump. I then reattached my coils and the car started up with a LOUD backfire. It then began to idle like a car with a big cam, but a little rough sounding.
I assumed this was just a issue with the old new not working well with the new cam. I walked around the car as it idled and checked for leaks and other things. After about 3-5 mins the car began to repeatedly backfire. Imaging an idle Lope-backfire-lope-backfire-lope-backfire etc.
I shut it down and went over everything. I noticed that i forgot to reattach the hose to the top of the pcv on the back of the drivers valve cover. So i quickly attached that and was hoping that it was sucking in too much fresh air and creating a lean condition sparking my backfires. So i started it up again only to find it doing the exact same thing.
If you throttle to 2000rpm and hold it it smooths out and idles. Its a very slow throttle, and hesitates if you try to rev it at all. If you let off it immediately dies, or goes back to backfiring.
I think the timing is dead on, and i have everything hooked back up. Is there something i'm overlooking? Might i have damaged something running it open pcv? Although i doubt it i'm just looking at all my possible causes. Or might it just be the tune from the old cam?
Any input or suggestions would be awesome.

No codes or SES light. I searched this section for a backfire and Cole99TA had a similar issue with her C5 after a cam swap and it turned out to be coil harness issue. I will check all my coils and plug wires tomorrow, but i really think those are good.
bump.
and thanks !

Yes 7.400 should be about where you want to be. Have you found any ses lights?
