A stock LS7 cam would not have the machined trigger area towards the rear that an LS1 cam sensor needs to read.

The stock LS7 cam is probably bare in that area...the same as this stock LS2 cam.

VERY nice info. BUT not to say on a LS1 cam, the spec could be ground, that would be interesting.

210/230 on a 120+4 lsa? .630 lift i think.

sounds like a lingenfelter cam. i would think better grinds could be had for a 346 cid engine.

Default LS7 cam in an LS1

You can put an LS7 or three bolt LS2 camshaft in an LS1 or LS6 engine, you would just have to put an LS2 front timing cover and sensor on the engine and use a 2005 LS2 front timing gear and then extend the camshaft sensor with an adapter harness to the front of the engine.

The parts to do this would cost around $185 so it isn't very cost effective unless you got a very good deal on the camshaft.

You can't easily put a single bolt LS2 or LS3 camshaft in a LS1 or LS6 since a single bolt, single reluctor tooth camshaft timing gear doesn't exist.

I just did this for a customer and it is NOT worth it. He got the cam for free so he didn't mind paying for the swap, but if I were any of you I wouldn't waste your time/money and/or the shops time to do it.

He is correct..there are much better cams out there..it is not worth the effort to put it in..figure out what your HP/TQ goal is and study your cam selection ... you should match your components to work together to reach your performance goal..just throwing on a part because it is cheap is not the route to go.

first off, that cam is designed for 427ci, dropping it in a 346 would be a total mismatch.
