Default help me choose a cam

ls1 stock motor. 4.10 rear end. 4l60e. will have stall matched to cam swap.

looking for the highest number cam thats out. id like to make the 400-450whp range.

ls6 intake is being purchased as well and car will have true duals installed.

whats gonna be my best bet? something like a trex or ms4?

also would any of the truck heads benefit any?

224/224 .563 114 is about the biggest you can go with stock heads.

trex or magic stick will work but piston to valve clearance will be close and the car wont be a very nice street car anymore but if that doesnt matter then dont worry about it.

Definitely trex or ms4 with a 4000 stall or bigger.

my cars been in the shop a year. and isnt a daily by any means just an out to dinner. couple times down the track play car.

so i want a cam that i can grow with. when i do get some nice heads an fast 90/90 intake would be the cam to get me close to the 500whp range.

for optimal preformance and drivability you must match the cam and heads, there is no way around this. Dont be fooled with peak HP numbers. You should consider the overall preformance of the cam as well as driveability, suree big *** cams sound cool and may get a you a nice peak number but what good does that do if its flat in other areas and bogs at low rpms, there is no sence in haveing a huge cake with constrictinh heads. Your best bet is to call the head manufacturer and tell them what you have and they will work with you and suggest a cam. Simply saying you want a MS4 and may get heads one day isnt wrong by any means but you can go about it much smarter in my opinion, dont get fooled with big cams and PEAK HP numbers

With our streetsweeper cam on stock heads through an auto you can make between 390 and 410 unlocked on the dyno. with heads it definitely has room to grow. its made 510 on two seperate occasions on cars with ET 215 heads and a Fast 90.

$450 and in stock!

Everyone knows all of this already, you said a 224 is the largest for stock heads which is untrue. Of course its always optimal to match parts together, especially a nice set of heads for a big cam but not everyone cares about how their car drives on the street or low end power.

DAMN! a year? I'm already frustrated at having my car in the shop for the last week and half.
